Unie van Waterschappen respects the privacy of persons concerned and ensures that the personal data you provide us with is treated confidentially.

Who is responsible for processing my information?

Unie van Waterschappen is the international organisation of the 21 regional water authorities in the Netherlands. Although it is not our aim or core task to process personal data, we are sometimes obliged by circumstances to do so in order to carry out our mandate.

Unie van Waterschappen has a privacy officer. The privacy officer sees to it that the organisation complies with all regulations concerning privacy and advises the organisation on the processing of personal data. If you have questions about the way in which the organisation uses your personal data, you can contact the privacy officer via privacy@uvw.nl.

Unie van Waterschappen uses the website lifemica.de as a tool for international communication with partnerships, international stakeholders and other interested parties. To improve the functioning of the website we make use of cookies.

We do not store your personal data any longer than is necessary for the purpose of processing it. In certain cases, however, we are required by law to store your personal data for a longer period.

Organisations are only allowed to process personal data on certain grounds. The Unie van Waterschappen processes personal data on the following grounds, set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Consent: We only process personal data with your consent. If you withdraw your consent – which you can do at any time – we will immediately stop processing your personal data, unless there are other grounds for doing so.
  • Legitimate purposes: consent does not have to be specifically requested for the placement of technical and functional cookies.

We will never share your personal data with third parties unless there are legal grounds for doing so, or we have received your explicit consent.

If we process your personal data, you have various rights under the GDPR. These include the right to:

  • request the DWA to erase your personal data;
  • restrict the processing of your personal data;
  • object to the processing of your personal data;
  • have your personal data transferred.

It may be that, despite the care with which the relevant departments handle your personal data and/or treat your rights, you have a complaint. If so, you can submit it to our privacy officer via privacy@uvw.nl. You of course also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authoritiy (DPA) Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
